This story starts out with a couple going to see the new movie Shutter Island. They were going out for a nice night but didn't know that there experience wasn't going to turn out good. They first had problems paying for the tickets because the ATM was out of cash and they didn't bring enough with them. Then there were interruptions throughout the first 30 minutes and missed the whole beginning of the movie. The lady (Sarah) emailed the company complaining about her experience and in turn received a explicit email from the vice president saying to basically go fu*k herself. She was furious with the response and made a Facebook page to boycott the movie theater. There are over 5000 fans of this page and in response a Facebook page was created to support the vice president but they only have around 200 fans. I think these pages is a fine way to use Facebook becuase there's not any laws on what you can do or can't do on it. I think she went overboard with the group and having 5000 fans. I also think the vice president went to far with the comments even though I thought it was kind of funny but being in his posistion that is totally out of line. I have seen many pages boycotting or hating on things so it is kind of normal to see these kind of pages on Facebook. I think the Facebook execs would approve of it because it is just making Facebook bigger and bigger and that means more money for them so I don't think there complaining at all. There is also a case of a fanpage that relates to this that has come right our little city of Whitewater. It is a fanpage of how the owner of the local tanning salon has screwed everyone over and people are trying to get him back from all the things he did. The link is here.
Also if you would like to read the emails that were sent between Sarah and the Vice President the link is here.

I think it's an awesome idea that you brought up the Bronze, Body, and Brew problem that's been going on. Being a customer, I was pretty peeved when I found out what happened. Thankfully, I only had like $2 worth of tans, but I know so many affected by this problem. I didn't even realize how much these were kind of alike (minus the crazy guy screaming at the lady). You sent a link to the Facebook page, but if you know anyone that is mad about this they can file a complaint at the Better Business Bureau and hopefully they can get their money back! https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/getstarted.aspx?siteID=113
ReplyDeleteanother person who shares my feelings with Bronze Body and Brew! I dont plan to let up on the situation but I dont plan to write Fu*K off emails either haha, if it comes to that in a couple of weeks I will personally end up making an appearance at the Mukwanago Salon and request, not demand a civil compromise where I am not out all my money for the inconvenience to not just me, but MANY. Regardless this seriously has inspired me to use facebook for something like this to get my point across, its not always about the outcome, its about morals and justice behind it all.
ReplyDeleteSo Sarah's fanpage got 5,000 fans and the VP of the company's fanpage got 200 fans... I think it's safe to say that Sarah isn't the only customer who had a bad experience, and it's good that she made the fanpage to get the word out.
ReplyDeleteI think the exec was out of line with his e-mail as well. It’s pretty ridiculous that somebody in that type of business would do that. Considering how fast word can spread these days, people need to be more careful of the things they say and beware that they can quickly become public without their consent.
